Some neat info about PVP: here.

There will be open world (small and large scale) pvp. Small scale example they gave was at Stonehenge, in a king of the hill type encounter. More people inside the stone circle = more shinies/points/gumballs/whatevers.

The large scale example they gave was in a big Chinese temple where you can fight 24/7.

I always worry about games when they look at PVP as an afterthought. (I'm looking at you Rift) But this sounds like PVP is a bit more entrenched in the overall experience.

I am titylated.

The game doesn't have traditional leveling which may mean that the devs can focus more of the energies on creating a great pvp experience.

It seems the only benefits to progression are access to cool costume slots and some bonuses to abilities. One of the great things about WAR was that you could (to some degree) do well in PvP without top end gear. Levelling just gave you extra stat and skill bonuses.

Sounds like a fun-based game instead of loot-based.

Especially true since for a long time nobody *could* get better gear even if they wanted to.
Design flaw? Certainly. But it made the game much better.

I agree. For the couple of months that the populations were balanced it was a solid game. Nobody was knocking on the doors of the cities, but it still was great fighting.

The next great PVP game is going to have to figure out a mechanic that allows progress despite population fairness.

I also hope this game makes it easy for us part-timers to stay relevant.

Finally, we need pit of shades.

Horns bitches.

Progress is dumb.

I think someone should just make a game that people want to play because it's actually fun, not because they're making progress or getting rewards. Seems simple, yet somehow elusive.
